About Hudson Hounds
Our History
Christine Brown founded Hudson Hounds in 2012 from her Sleepy Hollow apartment, offering walks, boarding, and soon making play groups the main service for clients.
As Christine expanded the business and increased the number of dogs under her care, it became necessary to relocate from the apartment. In September 2016, the operation moved to Mahopac, NY, providing a private yard and ample, comfortable space for all clients to enjoy.
In 2016, Christine was diagnosed with a rare form of stomach cancer.
While Christine underwent treatment, Aaron assumed responsibility for managing the daily operations of Hudson Hounds, expanding her vision, and bringing on staff to support its growth.
Aaron gradually constructed the house around the daycare, adding various yard activity areas, a scent garden, and a treat-maze to enrich the dogs’ experience. He also installed a full grooming station, making the home a one-stop shop for our clients.
Aaron enhanced his dog training skills through the ‘Catch-Academy’ Dog Training Program, integrating what he learned into the daily routines at our daycare and boarding facility. He prioritizes ongoing education for both himself and his team, ensuring we consistently adopt new techniques and practices to provide the best care for our beloved dogs.
Looking to the Future
So much has developed in Mahopac, that we’re now considering a second location! We plan to maintain our ‘home-like’ atmosphere by seeking another private spot with more land and indoor space, allowing us to create an even better experience for everyone interested in joining the Hudson Hounds crew.
Although Christine passed away in 2019, Aaron and the Hudson Hounds team remain committed to upholding her legacy by delivering compassionate, family-focused service to their clients.
